MEC English Proficiency Programme (MEPP)

Four levels of 12 weeks each. Every level builds on the previous one to ensure continuous language development.

Level 1

Foundation

Introduces the basics of English communication: simple vocabulary, basic sentence structures and everyday expressions.

Builds communication skills so learners begin to use English confidently in everyday situations.

Frequently asked questions

Who can join the programme?

MEPP is for adult learners aged 18 to 45, both Malaysian and international, who want to improve their English for further study or career development. Learners with little or no English are welcome.

How do I know which level to start at?

All students sit the MEC English Placement Test (Listening, Reading, Grammar and Writing) on registration and are placed at Foundation, Elementary, Intermediate or Advanced level.

When does each level run?

Each level lasts 12 weeks: 10 teaching weeks, 1 review week and 1 final assessment week. The academic calendar runs January–March, April–June, July–September and October–December.

What is the weekly timetable?

Classes run Monday to Friday, 09:00–13:15, giving 4 academic hours a day and 20 hours a week. Optional, voluntary self-study is suggested from 14:00–16:00.

How do I move up to the next level?

Students are assessed through continuous assessment (40%) and a final examination (60%). A minimum overall score of 60% is required to progress.

Can international students apply?

Yes. International students apply for a Student Pass through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). Our team supports you through the application process.

Is there an attendance requirement?

Yes. Students must maintain at least 80% attendance for guided classes. Self-study is voluntary and is not subject to the attendance requirement.
